WHAY radio went on the air in December 1990 at 105.9FM serving McCreary County, in southeastern Kentucky. The station has always prided itself on offering an eclectic mix of music, ranging from country and bluegrass, to blues and rock, and just about anything else in between.

In June 2000, the station increased its power and moved down the dial to 98.3FM, where we are found now. The station has adopted a nearly full time Americana music format, although we brand it as "Free Range Americana" with a mix of classic country, bluegrass, blues and rock oldies blended in.

WHAY serves our community with free public service announcements, community announcements, local, state and national news updates, as well as a Swap-n-Shop program and local high school sports broadcasts.
